CLASS PASS REVIEWS
Kind words from my clients
Kind words from my clients
I have been practicing yoga for 25 years, and I’ve worked with many great teachers, but Roy Gan is my very favorite. Roy is a deeply compassionate person, and this comes through in his classes, which are both challenging and playful. As a former professional dancer, Roy's choreography is graceful, intuitive, and creative. Roy's group classes are a rigorous vinyasa style, but never intimidating or competitive. Roy supports and honors each student’s abilities, creating a comfortable space for everyone to practice. Because Roy is also a gifted Life Coach, he has the unique ability to discuss the absurdity of the human condition with mindfulness, wisdom, and often humor.
I do weekly private sessions with Roy, ranging from vigorous flow classes to restorative classes, depending on my mood. Roy always listens to how I’m feeling and creates a sequence that takes me on a profound journey, physically and spiritually. This is so helpful to my total well-being, especially during these strange times!
Roy is accessible and easy to talk to about the technical aspects of yoga poses as well as the feelings that arise from the practice. I highly recommend Roy Gan. He is the real thing!
Roy is a unique and extraordinary human being. As a Yoga Teacher and Life Coach, Roy combines a deep understanding of human anatomy and physiology with a strong passion to help improve the lives of people through their practice. He cares.
Roy has found this to be his path in life and willingly shares with us the wisdom and insight that he has gained during his journey. Roy blends humor with personal experiences to greatly enhance our practice of yoga.
I am forever grateful to have found Roy pre-covid at the Yoga Garden SF, and further, that he has chosen to continue providing classes via zoom to his ever-grateful students! He has encouraged us to continue to practice yoga with all the right principles and techniques, and importantly, to practice gratitude. Roy reminds us to shut out the noise and listen to our bodies. Roy listens to the needs of his students and answers all questions with deep care and consciousness. He orchestrates classes based on the wishes of students, skillfully demonstrating his choreography, while eloquently encouraging and assisting us through his well-designed classes.
I cannot say enough about a person like Roy so wholly devoted to his practice, with such a desire to share his wisdom with all students.
I love Roy’s yoga classes. They deepen my understanding of my own body and spirit. All poses become a doorway into self-awareness, strength, and peace.
His training as an athlete and dancer is ever-present in his sensitive and nuanced understanding of anatomy and the energetic body. His varied sequences offer choice so that I can adjust my practice to be more challenging, or more gentle. Roy reminds us that yoga exists to liberate us into a more joyful, creative existence. I am the origin of all transformation in my life-- this is Roy’s signature philosophy, which he explores with depth and candor. I find pleasure, peace, and power in Roy’s classes. I hope to take many, many more.
I couldn’t recommend Roy's yoga classes more highly! His skillful and light-hearted instruction is my recipe for a more peaceful day. Roy’s background in dance is unique in the yoga world, and it shines through in his elegant and lyrical sequences. If you're looking for a strong flow with an instructor who encourages you to both nurture and challenge yourself, Roy's class is truly unmissable.
I’d never tried yoga when I started with Roy a year ago, so I can’t compare his instruction with anyone else’s, but he’s a friendly guy, former dancer, Singapore native in his 40’s, very patient and knowledgable. I have made marked progress and sustained no injuries working with him. Since the pandemic, we work in private sessions at my home, observing social distancing so that there is no physical contact. My sessions with him have helped keep me fit during the pandemic when other exercise options like Pilates are scarce.
Roy weaves his vast knowledge of anatomy and physiology with a grounded spirituality in all of his yoga classes. His instruction flows nicely. It is smooth, clear, concise. His cues allow me to know what he wants me to do next, enabling me to be engaged mentally and physically the whole time & we get to laugh!
As a yoga newbie, Roy's verbal instructions are so clear and succinct that I know what I need to do to get into certain poses. The flow combinations he gives in class "flow." Roy is a gifted yoga teacher and I highly recommend him.
